I just got hold of one of these and now run into problems.
I had to cut my HD try to get it to fit as it is a Sapphire Ultimate jobbie and the heatsink is quite high.
Anyway managed to get it to fit and it boots up fine, then installed 10.12s for it when I reboot it gets past the windows logo then a blank screen.
Could it be a power issue the PSU is 250w I bought this card as it is meant to be low power with 40nm process.
Or is there something I am missing?
Have put init display first in bios to PCI-X, cant think of anything else to do with it.
Gonna have to take it out I suppose and go back to the onboard 7 series GPU, which is a shame as when you fast forward MKV's the screen goes garbled till the GPU\CPU catchs up.
Rest of system in is Athlon x64 5000 at stock, with 2 gig of ram, 500 gig drive and a DVDRW
I must add if I boot into safe mode its fine, listed as HD5550 in device manager, so I unistall it, leave driver files reboot, which it does, then installs driver, then reboot then same as before.

I've had a couple of Shuttles over the years, the GFX card should be OK, I'm guessing you will just need to check that onboard graphics is disabled in the Bios and try to reinstall the drivers. I've run 4650's in the smaller 250W Shuttles before now.

What model is it?

Took all the drivers with driver cleaner and its still the same, dont really want to have to re-install as that would be a pain, not even sure I have a drive big enough to put all the films I have onto.

I'm running a 5770 in a shuttle with the 250w PSU, runs fine. Although I did have problems with the 10.12s randomly crashing whenever they felt like it. Went back to 10.10 and not a single problem. Worth a shot.

the problem must lie with the 10.12s, as it boots fine with no drivers, into windows loads standard VGA all is well, install the 10.12s and same problem wont quite get into windows
gonna get the 10.10s and try them.

Yeah its strange why it wont work 250w PSU should run it no problem, its not gonna be for games just blueray media.
I will try an different PSU tomorrow wont be a shuttle one, but shouldn't make any difference.

I wonder if it's a software issue, maybe something needs sorting out in Windows, do you need to uninstall the onboard GFX drivers etc?

done all that, even set to disabled, tried every pretty much, short of a fresh install dont really want to do that

Try resetting your CMOS.

Don't think that will help.

Sounds like Windows is messed up to me and needs reinstalling sorry to say... You can try installing over the current installed version or doing a repair install. Just make sure you have copied everything on your desktop and my docs folder to a new folder in the root of the drive to be safe.

Try reflashing the card with a stock bios image if you can find one. I've seen the black screens before after tinkering with the gpu bios - may be worth a shot.

I have now installed windows 7 on another drive, as soon as I installed drivers and rebooted same problem, tried all driver sets from 10.6 onwards.
I am gonna try the card in one of my other machines and see what happens.

Works fine in another machine, so must be something with the shuttle, maybe it just dont like it, what a shame especially cutting bits out of my Shuttle drive tray to make it fit.
