HD5850 Extreme problems

Hi,


Purchased the Hd5850 extreme and had a few problems yesterday with install.

I have a Core i3 540, ASRock P55, CM 700W Gold, 8GB corsair RAM and running Win 7 64 bit.


So yesterday i remove the Hd5770 i had and put in the Hd5850, it kept crashing loading games so i uninstalled all the old drivers and CCC and managed to play Crysis 2 and CoH fine.


Come home from work today and it won't load anything again, its fine in the menus of games but crashes as soon as the actual game loads.


Have tried uninstalling everything ATI/AMD related and starting again but same problems.


Any help?

Crashes on 3Dmark as well.

MSI Afterburner shows it jumping to 100% GPU useage then down to 0% then up again to 100%.

what are the temperatures like? sounds like the card is throttling perhaps.

I just had a problem similar to this, and what i did was take my 5850 out the pci-e slot

and make sure theres no dust in there, and then make sure when u put it back in it goes

in the pci-e properly by just adding a little more pressure.

Idles at around 40C, is cool enough i think.


I have to remove the card and reinstall the drivers every few hours to get it to work.

do you get a triangle icon in tray saying AMDKMDAP has stop responding etc.

I though i had fixed mine, but now ive tried everthing i can think of to get it to

work. So now im returning it so i put back in my 8800 gts 512 removed ati drivers

put nvidia drivers back on and bam everthings working again so its got to be the

card not my computer:/

Had similar problems, But mine loads into game fine. For example waiting for a map to load in black ops and it crashes for 30seconds - 60seconds

Have you removed shadow drivers?
