HD5870 CF, fan control and system noise

I've noticed that I have no control over the fan on the 2nd card, not in CCC or using afterburner, I set a profile and one GPU fan follows this but the other does not, sometimes it seems too and other times it's doing it's own thing.

Infact right now the fan on the first card is at 20% and the fan on the second card is at 28% and it's 10C cooler, just ran the stone giant demo the second card runed to 60% for brief periods even though the GPU temo was only 52C, this doesnt seem normal or even make any sense.

Also, I'm noticing allot more noise from my system however i'm noticing it even when fan speed at reading as 20% after exiting a game so I'm a little confused as to the cause. Could this be the PSU? using a Antec 1200 and Corsair TX 750W.

What controls your case fans and CPU cooler? Are they fixed speed or variable (connected to the motherboard)?

Mine spin up when the case gets toasty.

Mine spin up when the case gets toasty.

Case and CPU fans are all fixed or at least should be, only variable fans in the case should be the PSU and GPU fans.

Running both mine on stock setting`s very quiet but they do chuck out a hell of a lot of heat out the back of the case though.
