My first 5870 failed after just over a month when the fan stopped working. Had to wait a couple of weeks for more stock to come in to get my replacement sent out, which just made it before christmas... tested out ok.
I tried playing dragon age tonight to notice strange patterning on flat areas of the menu's. Oh oh.
Tried the ladybug demo, and noticed a bit of patterning on the loading progress bar on the initial screen....
...and when it loads up I'm greeted with a screen full of multi-coloured dots.
Using 9.12 drivers - so uninstalled and reinstalled 9.11 - same problem. In fact when I had uninstalled the drivers and was using stock W7 ones, I did notice a few odd dots if I looked really hard on 2D screens.
Checked, and fan is still working on this one.
Haven't overclocked the card or messed with it in any way either.
So looks like my 2nd HD5870 card had gone faulty too, and I've hardly used it (due to being busy and all over christmas).
If I combined the two cards I would get one good working one.
Is it just my bad luck or are there some issues with the 5870's?
Both are sapphire ones as well.
Looks like another RMA.
Don't know whether to try for another replacement (3rd time lucky?) or ask for a refund this time. Obviously costing me postage every time I send it back.
Its a bit annoying...
