Cant seem to find the right settings on windows control panel, in-game and audio console etc without the sound sounding really hollow and tinny in game?
Anyone else have a setup like this? I use CMSS-3D so i can hear everything in surround.
Make sure you unset sync with windows control panel in the Creative Audio Console...
In windows control panel set speakers to 7.1
In the creative control panel set stereo speakers/2.1 or headphones but I find headphones makes sound too muffled - theres a very minor positional artifact using headphones with 2.1 speaker mode but its nothing major.
Enable CMSS-3D.
Set audio options ingame to windows default or 7.1 if those options are available.
NOTE: HL/SOURCE games use their own positional audio setup so in some cases it might cause clashes.
I always turn SVM off - sounds naff in games making gun shots especially muffled and nasty.
I usually use +8db bass boost, 100Hz crossover (my headphones can take it and it gives guns a lot more umph in the sound in COD4, etc.) and Crystaliser on 70%.
