HD6850 analogue display problems.

So I've discovered that the 6850 only displays analogue displays on one DVI port, so I've been trying to find a way to get both my VGA monitors working and I think I've found it, and I'm looking to find out if it will work.

I've found this:

Which, theoretically, would let me connect one display to the DVI port that allows analogue conversion, and use that DisplayPort > VGA converter to display the second monitor.

Would this work? Would I be able to extend a single display over both monitors even though they're coming from 2 different ports? What would the maximum res for each screen be?

Clever to get the digital to analogue converter in such a small footprint. According to Startech the DP to VGA will do 1920x1200.

That's great, I'm only needing it to do 1920x1080.

So no-one can see any immediately obvious reason this bodge plan WON'T work?
