Finally moving on from my Q6600 to an FX8320/990FXA-UD5 build. Put it all together last night and the B&*£$%d wouldn't POST. After much head scratching I flicked the BIOS switch on my HD6950 and it booted.

Happy days :) Except I'm now back to a standard HD6950. I did try reflashing a 6970 bios but didn't work. Anyone else had this issue?

Tempted to grab a R290 but can't justify price just yet.

if im right i think you just need to edit the bios with RBE and change the make of the flashed bios to what your card is.

That method shouldn't apply to me as mine is an original dual-bios reference card. It's an XFX 6950 flashed to an XFX 6970. It had been working fine up until I installed it in new build.

Not sure why it's preventing the PC boot when in HD6970 mode

Will give it a go though...

Thanks Marv, you saved me £300 ;)

Modified the HD6970 BIOS in RBE to ID the card as HD6950 & PC boots fine now. Wonder what's different between the P5E motherboard it used to be in and the 990fxa-UD5 it's in now?
