I have a HIS HD7790 1gb card and am trying some overclocking.

It seems 99% of reviews of the card seem to overclock the card to 1200 core and 1600 mem from 1000 core and 1500 mem.

Ive managed to get the core to 1075 which is what factory OC cards run at with 1600 mem. However anything more on the core seems to just crash the driver. Im using the Overdrive feature in the AMD drivers.

Anybody had any luck with this card? All the reviews seems to state 1200/1600 is an easy overclock....

You have to use MSI afterburner so you can raise the core voltage, that's how people are getting the clocks so high. Memory overclocking is more difficult as it's very much chip dependent.

Seems most reviews etc use the AMD Overdrive and get those clocks though. Im running 1075/1600 would it be worth the extra on the core just to get to 1200mhz mark?

Edit: Seems like the 7790's are volt locked?

I don't think they're volt locked, if you're using Afterburner you might need to update it or manually add the VRM controller type into the config file.

Bear in mind that reviewers get sent cherry picked cards, so they might not have had to increase the volts. You will, so use Afterburner.
