HD8800 Series Coming

I always felt it would be Q2 2013. Most rumours point in this general direction. There's no real market for a new band of cards at the moment apart from a very small amount of users who run very high resolutions.

BF3 can be run butter smooth at full ultra on the 7950/670 and above and even arguably on the 7870/660Ti. Until more mainstream games come which push hardware more there's little sense in releasing the next generation of cards as I doubt there'll be much appetite for change when you can buy a custom cooled 7950 @ £240 and max most games at the standard 1920*1080 resolution.

Of course if 120 Hz 2560*1440 monitors become mainstream then there can be a push for better hardware from this. At the moment though - again except for high resolution users - any new generation of cards will be just more overkill on top of cards which are already overkill.

I just looked back through some of his posts but couldn't see anything of note (didn't go back far). He did hit valid points many times though :(

he has a long history of being un-banned just long enough to get himself banned again

he got a ban off the back of one discourse I had with him when he couldn't actually directly answer a question he resorted to personal insults, I replied without actually quoting him and he then edited his post to remove the long string of insults and then reported me

I let the mods know exactly what he had originally typed before the edit, I got a warning, he got a ban

no doubt whatever he did this time was serious enough that they erased any trace of it

he sometimes vaguely has a point but more often than not he talks utter tripe

like saying that you only need 1GB of VRAM for BF3 on full ultra... without owning a copy of BF3 and basing it entirely on being able to play The Witcher on a pair of 560ti's

Looks pretty pointless until we get 22inch retina standard displays or, 4K.

I remain CPU bottle-necked at 1080p/120hz.

I doubt Apple will go and do a monitor that small with us PC gamers in mind ;)

I kinda agree though, without higher resolutions as standard, along with 360 & PS3 still at large, more power isn't really needed for a little while.

Exceptions being certain "games" like the Crysis lot and those using surround/eyefinity.
