HDA Digital X-Plosion 7.1 DTS.. is it any good?

Hi, looking for alternative to my X-Fi Music as it crackles to much with my current chipset..

How good is the X-Plosion? What will I lose when gaming? Also i'm using some old Z680 5.1 speakers, will it work in games with 5.1 sound using the digital connection ?
 
hey ,

i know what ** trying to do coz i tryed ot do the same and i got the same card and got good results. but bewareer that there is a slight delay on the sound (they say humans cant notice it but i can lol) but it will work , not as good with all the "ear candy" like EAX HD and that sorta thing but will work with the basics on - and sound wasnt really that great - i prefure some onbored to these card

i think tutral beach do a card with dolby live (thats the feture u will need)
 
if you want a card for gaming i would try and get your x-fi sorted to be honest...either replaced or whatever to fix the crackling.

i tried and still have a 5.1 HDA card which i only use for spdif passthru now in my htpc ...for me it was poor for gaming, the drivers suck (yes worse than creative ..much worse) and the overall sound quality of the card isn't great....c-media chipset what do you expect.

some ppl rave about these DDL live cards but in my world they're massively overated.
