hi
would it be benificial to bypass the HDAM on my marantz 63 ki sig and if so, how easy is this to do? Any usefull info on this would be much appreciated. Also i believe a clock upgrade would bring really good sonic benifits, where is a good place to get this done..

Im about to write a beginners thread up on modding the 63's, 67's etc.

You should really only bypass the HDAM circitry when you replace the crappy standard op-amps. Look for NATIONAL LM4562's that are drop in replacement and are used by the best cd-63 modders. And they can be obtained free from the NA sample program :D....

But firstly for free you should look into removing the output capacitors and muting transistors. Will give a nice change in sound for only some desoldering.

For a clock i would look at the audiocom superclock 2 or 3 (ONLY from their ebay store), and not direct from them. If your looking for getting mods done, there are a number of hi-fi shops that could probably to it but brent over at diyaudio in the 500+ page modding thread for these players has helped myself and others out loads, plus his company now offers a modding service for these players. Prices are very reasonable and are MUCH better value than audiocoms service, plus he will tailor a mod package to suit you.
