HDCP compatible ?

Dam!

Thanks for finding out for me. So even if i do get a HDCP compatible graphics card, I will still not be able to play Blu Ray / HD-DVD films :(

The Viewsonic is my primary display for doing work etc, but I also have a LG 22LS4R LCD TV connected as a secondary display. Is this HDCP compatible, and would I be able to play HD films though this as a secondary display?

Thanks

True,

It is a real shame that we have to have HDCP compatible hardware!!!! - I thought the moment you got some DVD playing software and a Blu Ray / HD DVD player, you was away.

Never mind, things may change in the future!

How then do we get a standlone HD DVD / Blu Ray player to work on any type of screen?

If the LG is compatible, has anybody got around the issue of dual screen displays?

Thanks

Hi,

Just ran Cyberlinks HD / Blu Ray Advisor.

They say my Graphcs card is fine :) and the problem is just my screen. Is my LG LCD 22LS4R compatible. I have tried a HDMI ---> DVI and HDCP still fails. So should I use an RGB connection to PC? - Would this be better?

Thanks

Hi,

Just tried it on a RGA cable connect and all fine fine. I can now play DVD's on Blu Ray and HD DVD without anydvd :)

I suppose it could be the cable HDMI ---> DVI not being compatible. It was a cheap cabl only costing £5.00. Do I need to get a better cable which is HDCP compatible?

Hi,

I have a extra cable with my graphics card which plugs into like a s-video socket on my card, but provides a Green, Red & Blue cable socket. Would these work with HDCP (Componet Cable connections)?

Thanks

Just tried a male to male VGA cable and it works :)

So is it just the cheep cable I have for HDMI >>>>> DVI. Should I by a more expensive cable which meets HDCP?

Hi,

Thanks for your information.

I think I will just go for the RGB / VGA cable. Having briefly watched the first 5 minutes of some films last night on a very short cable, I could not see any difference in quality at all.

I will go and get a 3 metre VGA cable tomorrow :)

Thanks for the information.

Regards

Robert

P.S - I take it their is not that much quality difference between DVI / HDMI / RGB?? - Thanx

Hi,

Decided to go with a 8600 GTS 256 MB card which supports HDCP.

All working fine, although I seem to have some loud sound pitches from my TV, onced configured with nvidia software.

Plays DVD's fine, but horrible interface sound wise. Could it be a fault with the HDMI >> DVI cable. The problems seems to be their. Do I need a better quality cable? As soon as I disconnect the cable, the hissing sound goes.

Any ideas?
