I am looking at the Eizo Flexscan 24" TFT, I see from its spec that its not HDCP-compliant. Is this going to be a real problem in the future?

I do not have a SKY box and do not really plan on getting one. However will I find that I am left with an out-of-date monitor rather quickly, as HD discs become come.

Or will it have little real world impact.

I mainly use the PC for illustrator etc. and gaming.

Any thoughts welcome.

Unless you plan on using the PC for things that require HDCP (of which gaming and illustrator do not), then it's no problem. You'll also need a HDCP-compliant graphics card should you want to run protected content. It's all down to you and your needs really.

As it stands, HD content such as HD-DVD and blu-ray discs won't have HDCP enabled until 2010 at the earliest. This is to give everyone with a non-HDCP set time to upgrade (esp. in Japan and the US where lots of non-HDCP HD sets have been sold) but there is no formal agreement on this so it may be brought forward.
