Quick question about HDCP

If you buy a GFX unit which is HDCP compliant, but which only has DVI ports, will it run HDCP signals over a DVI -> HDMI cable, or does it have to be DVI to DVI?
 
The display output itself is HDCP compliant, and because DVI and HDMI are technically speaking the same cable, it'll be the same for both of them.
