Bit confused with this HDCP thing. My monitor is not HDCP, my graphics card is HD so I can connect my 360 up to this and run it through my monitor. But will this work without the monitor being HDCP ? Sorry if this is stupid just a bit confusing.

HDCP is an enctryption algorithm only, and is designed as a protection for High Def content. If you had a source material like Blu-Ray or HD-DVD discs which used this protection, in order ot display them you would need hardware which could decrypt the HDCP protection. As such, anything with protection would need a graphics card and monitor which supprot HDCP as well.

High Def support is a little different and just refers basically the resolution something can support. For instance, a DVD is standard definition at only 480 vertical lines. High definition DVD would be either 720 or 1080 lines (that's where 720p and 1080i/p come from :)). So the graphics card is capable of HD output as most cards are....the X box is also capable of HD output at 720 and 1080 whereas older consoles could not display this resolution. Obviously the games need to be compatible with the higher resolution here too. A monitor can display HD content as long as it supports a high enough resolution. For instance a 1680 x1050 res 20"WS monitor could show 1050 vertical lines so can show 720 content, but not quite show 1080 content without scaling it down

TRUE HD support as labelled on some screens and hardware would require it to support these high resolutions as WELL as HDCP encryption

hope that makes sense?

Thankyou very much for the quick reply. I understand now. Hopefully my xbox will look quite nice on my 22" Belinea. Once it gets here anyway!
