HDD access

Hi,

At the weekend I am getting a box for my tv which will be able to stream content from my Pc onto the tV

Basically, is there any way that the box will still be able to stream from the Pc's HDD when the system is either in hibernation or even sleep mode?

Nope afraid not, the disk will be powered down in both those states.

The data on the HDD needs to be read, processed, sent to the GPU, processed and then sent to your telly. All this requires the PC to be running!

If you are worried about electricity usage, just make sure the power-settings are all set accordingly. Have the OS use minimal CPU power, set the PC to go to sleep after a certain amount of inactivity [in case you wander off without sleeping it yourself].

If it is noise - get quieter fans or volt mod them.
