HDD and system files

I'm stuck with my hdd and my new windows install.
My previous copy of windows decided it didnt want to run any services when booting so I've Installed windows on a spare hdd for the moment to save files and whatnot.
Now i want to delete the old windows file but I can't take ownership of it and according to disk management its the system drive so im hesitant of formatting it.
Anyone know what to do?

you should have disconnected the old drive before installing windows on the new one. i think you'll have to do this and re-install again.
