Hello,

I have 2 hdd's in my computer, both single drives not set in any raid. One has my O/S on it and one has my data stored on it.

For some reason my 250gb o/s hdd is only showing as 128gb(shown as 250 in the bios but when going to format windows it appears as 128gb) but my data hdd (500gb) is working fine. Windows finds currupt files every 2/3 weeks and also sometimes locks up 30 seconds (hence my attempt to format) into windows loading.

am i right in thinking that this hdd is possible on its way out?

ive already tried a low level format on the drive to no success.

I have to agree with your sentiment that the drive could be on the way out. Can you run scandisk on it?

I had the exact same problem.
I have a 250GB in my lappy, but the BIOS only supports 128GB, so I had to partition it manually beforehand, and reinstall XP onto one of the partitions.

If it's not that, try the drive in a different computer or run scandisk, like BENdage said.
