Hi,

My new gaming Pc I built over the weekend has a major problem.

It was working perfect for the last few days but today I paused fallout NV to fetch a drink. When I came back there was a click, click, click coming from the HDD cage. I restarted the PC but now windows 7 won't boot :( and there is still a clicking noise coming from the PC.

I have used the regedit trick to get my Crucial M4 SSD to have only the windows 7 boot off it and have a western digital caviar Black 1Tb with all the settings, files etc on it. (Did that on the saturday so it has been working fine for 5 days)

start-up repair hasn't found anything wrong, so could the SSD or HDD have failed after 5 days (both were brand new)?

Any advise would be helpful :)

Yeah that's what I've been thinking. Atleast I can put my old HDD in for a while until I get a replacement.

I don't think I'll go for a Western digital HDD ever again.

dont say that, ive just recieved a new samsung hdd for a ps3 upgrade today, and all it does is click click, tried it in pc and is the same, was going to rma it for WD, ( never had samsung before )
