ive just been putting together a new pc, and upon trying to fit a 4870 into my case it caught the sata2 connector cbaale on the HDD ( samsung spinpoint F1) , forced it downwards and has bent the connector with it, its just bent- not broken off, and im gutted that this has happened:(, but i notice that there are other connectors on the hdd, is there any way to connect cables to these so tht it will still function normally, and i should i try bending the connectors back into place and giving it a shot? thanks for the help

Can you take a picture of whats actually bent?

Wouldn't imagine there'd be any other sata connections on it

well the pins themselves are and the plastic that the pins usually rest on has just fallen off completely :( and yeah theres no other sata connections, just what looks like a floppy power connector

You might be able to super glue the plastic bit that's fallen off, have seen others post that they've done and providing you're not in the habit of pulling the connector off frequently should work.

thanks for the help guys, what ive done at the moment is put the bit of broken plastic back into the cable itself and reconnected it with a bit of additional support. I the started up the whole machine, and it says "error loading operating system" but in the bios it says the HDD is fine, strange:confused: i guess i cant coplain anyway, just in the process of reloading windows vista...and the 4870 now seems to be only displaying screen colours as green and yellow:confused::confused:

ive broken the sata connector off before, what i did was just glue the broken bit back on and replace the sata cable as ive usually broken that too. just make sure the metal strips line up straight and the glue isnt covering the pins and it should work fine.
