Hi all. Hoping someone can help or advise on this one.

Turned on my Humax box the other evening and ALL my recordings had mysteriously been deleted?!

Then the next day I notice my on demand programs (BBC iPlayer, etc.) aren't working. I put it down to the service, and I'm still not so sure.

I decide to reset the box after reading some forums. Then yesterday I noticed I can't pause, rewind or record live TV. After looking around, I noticed the box isn't picking up the internal HDD, which it needs in order to perform the above functions.

I formatted the HDD on Windows to NTFS, which didn't work. After reading around some more, it seems the Humax box only reads ext3 formats. So I formatted the HDD via Ubuntu Linux to ext3 format, and it still doesn't work?

The box itself is working fine. I can view TV and access my external HDD as well as YouTube. But everything else like pause, rewind and record live TV is not working.

Any ideas? The box is a Humax HDR-1000S 1TB

I had this same box. And the same issue. I put in a WD Purple 2TB Drive. worked fine for a few weeks then boom. Same issue came back. After trying a mix of other hard drives with zero success either my SATA controller died or something else. I've opted for a Xtrend ET8000 to replace it based on some threads here (plus I already had the hard drive ready to use). But that's for advanced users. Humax's are simple to use but I'm sick of having to buy new boxes every 2 years.
