I was playing around with some sort of Vista theme pack. Didn't like it so uninstalled it.

Everything reverted correctly except for the icon for my C: drive in "My Computer". My other partitions are fine.

How can I get the C: icon back as a disk as apposed to the generic unknown icon.

I have tried rebuilding icons in Tweak UI without any success.

Thanks,

Chris

I broke my drive icons once, and fixed it by changing a reg key, it was a solution chucked up by google, so might not work for your issue.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell

Default value should be none

Checked that entry and it's at none.

PC could do with a clean up anyway so think I will start a fresh with tidying up my personal stuff and also a nice clean install.

download "icon tweaker" or "Icon packager"

icon tweaker is free

but icon packager slighly better but you have to pay or get the trial

Downlaod the TweakUI Powertoy from Microsoft and use the 'rebuild icons' function, it worked for me when that happened :)

Tried both of the above without any success.

The cause of the problem was a Vista theme pack I had tried, not liked and then uninstalled.

I decided to clean up my hdd and do a fresh install so the problem has been cured now.

Cheers guys.
