HDD Image - what do you use and why

I've been taking images of my HDD for almost a decade now, it truly is the best way to restore a bogged down or infected system to full health again as long as you store personal data to a separate partition.

Acronis fit the bill for a long time but I'm now getting sick of dead images that passed verification but will not boot after a restore.

I'm in the market for something new and just heard about Macrium Reflect which begs the question, what do you use and why.

I use Windows image backup as can't see the point of buying software if its built into the OS already

I use Macrium Reflect. It's so awesome that I paid for the full version even though I don't use those features.

I recently used Macrium reflect free on my PC for the first time, got to say I was very impressed. Nice GUI and easy to use.

Had Windows image backup fail once too often, previously normally used Ghost but wanted to give Macrium a chance, didn't regret it.

I use Clonezilla.

Great compression and is incredibly easy to use. You're able to backup to Internal HDD, USB Drives and network storage.

Never had a problem with it. It does look a little daunting without having a nice GUI, however it's a breeze to use!

One thing to mention! The only limitation that I've found is that Clonezilla can't restore to drives smaller than the source drive.
