HDD in Device Manager, but unable to access

Hi,

I have a removable drive connected via USB to the computer, which is detected in Device Manager, but it is not accessible via My Computer or "Computer Management".

Could you help please?

The Hardrive is a Western Digital 250Gb IDE drive.

are u running xpsp1 or 2 are u connecting to front of ps or back?

If it is a new drive? sometimes these new drives come with FAT32 format.

right click my computer/manage/storage/ try either removable storage or disk management/ format - NTFS

as above check in disk management see if tells you there what file system its got (fat32 NTFS) also check to see if its even been formatted (it will say unpartitioned space if it hasnt) if it hasnt format it!

when you say it's not accessible in Computer Management (I presume you mean disk management?), what precisely do you mean? Visible, not visible, just can't do anything with it?
