HDD indicator light causes system not to boot?

Hi Guys,

I built my new PC today (spec below) and all seems to work fine, apart from one strange issue.

If I plug my HDD indicator light plug into the correct header on the mobo, my system will boot and restart and keep looping. I can hit DEL and go to the BIOS and it shows the top/title of the BIOS but no system info below, sits there for half a second then reboots again. Upon booting the HDD indicator light on my case does light up, so its sending something.

I've tried spinning the HDD plug around so the +/- swap sides but then it boots fine but no HDD activity so that is clearly the wrong way round.

Spec:

EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Superclocked 2048MB
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Seasonic M12II 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case
Samsung Green (MV-3V4G3DUS) 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel Kit
Samsung SH-224BBBEBE 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter

Any ideas, I've never experienced this before.

Any help appreciated.

Is it shorting out against the case? cant really think of anything else other than that.

Oh btw, its a Crucial M4 256GB SSD if that makes a difference.

Hmm sounds feasible, but it is connected int he same loom as all the other header leads, and they work fine. I can't follow the lead all the way to the top as well cos it hides in the casing at the top.

I'll have another play with it once I have finished installing Windows on the SSD and see if I can get it running.

Not the end of the world if I don't get it working, but ideally I would like to have it.

Some people have had issues with the Z77-D3H and some GPUs, a BIOS update might cure it. Have you tried removing the GPU and use the IGP? Give the mobo a CMOS reset too just to make sure.
