So I recently bought a Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD from Overclockers and for some some reason I connect it to my PC it doesn't appear.

I want to use the HDD as another drive to store data on. I currently use an SSD as my primary drive.

The HDD seems to buzz repeatedly for a while then stop.

If it help is have a Gigabyte S-Series EP43-DS3R motherboard.

Update: I fixed the issue, it just turns out I was using the wrong Sata slots.

I have a new issue now though. For whatever reason the hardrive is only appearing as 136GB in the Bios. Is this just a defective hdd?

Update: Find it. I don't have one for HDD.

My SSD does have one and that works find, but my HDD only has two settings, Large and Auto.

Large actually makes it less.

Should be in 'Standard CMOS Features', then select your hard drive using arrow keys (sometimes page up / page down) and enter. You're looking for 'Access Mode'. When you find it select 'LBA'

I had this same problem on both of the 3tb Seagate drives I bought, they both showed as 746gb.

It turned out to be my Intel RST driver, once I sorted that and formatted as a GPT drive all was well with the world. :D

Be careful though, I later had another issue where even though W7 saw the full the 3tb, once I hit 2tb on of the drives the sodding partition table corrupted.
Again the correct Intel RST fixed it but I lost data.

Before messing with the RST drivers though try formatting as a GPT drive to see if that works.
