hdd not appearing

my friend just plugged in another hdd he got (sata) and it's not appearing in 'my computer' why?

You can get them working through...

r-click my comp, manage, disk management

then in disk management right click on the new drive to initialise it, and then format it afterward, then you'll have your new drive in "my computer".
