Heyup, I have a 150gb RaptorX for OS and a 500GB Sammy Spinpoint for storage. I've just had an error come up a couple of times, "error loading operating system" with a black screen, tried downloading HDDlife which shows my Raptor as on 83% health whereas the Samsung is on 100%. Is this error usually caused by a faulty HDD and how can I test if its operating with 100% good performance? (Just tried HDDlife out as it was the first thing I came across).

Thanks guys

I had an IDE drive look like it was failing and it turned out to the the IDE cable.
I'd try replacing that first then run the diag tools.

I have done this and it passed the diagnostics, also I ran chkdisk in deep scan and that didn't find anything so I'm not thinking it may not be the hard drive at all. I loaded the Vista64 disc and clicked repair installation, but that didn't work. I get "error loading operating system" every time I boot, if I press down F8 and select my raptor manually I boot into windows without any problems

Weird, oddly this was it, it was trying to boot off a usb stick, I'm a spack for not checking that sooner! BIOS has been doing weird things though, it failed to save my settings a couple of times recently, using 0802 on a P5K Premium...
