Hi there, i am currently trying to install a 250gb Maxtor DiamonMax 10 (ATA 133) HDD on my friends setup (athlon xp 2200+, 512 RAM, ecs k7s5a mobo. The hdd install fine and it finds it the correct size and all in BIOS. Problem only occurs when i try and install windows......
I plugged the hdd in as a master and then put in the windows CD. It then does the setup thing and says restart your computer....when it reboots it is supposed to boot from the hdd (using the windows CD and install windows) but it doesnt do this, instead what it does is say booting from "ide-0.....not found" and then proceeds to go back into the windows setup thing again and load all the files......This is going now in a continuous loop and its really bugging me! I have even sent off for a new hdd thinking the other was faulty and still the same thing happens with the new one.... i have even tried using 3 different windows cd's from various people and still the same problem occurs!!
I even used his old HDD and put the new one in as a slave and then using "Maxblast" tried to copy an image of the working hdd to the new one.which completed successfully. i then unplugged the working one and put the new in as a slave and it STILL doesnt work!! Im thinking perhaps BIOS update?!??! Any thoughts/ideas/ would be very helpful !!
