HDD Recovery software

[N17]

Does anyone know of any HDD recovery software, which is decent and open source?

Used Recuva a couple of times and it was pretty good!

I've had the most success with photorec. It recovers all file types, not just photos as the name implies

The UBCD has a few including PhotoRec and TestDisk, I'd start there (benefit being the disk will be offline so less chance of mucking things up further).

Another vote for Recuva here,

Worked a treat when the missus deleted a load of pics she hadnt backed up.

Recuva, fantastic.

Actually used it last night to recover 1000+ videos and pictures from a phone sd card.

Why does it have to be opensource, do you mean free?
