HDD secure erase

I would like recommendations on software to use for secure wiping HD's (don't mind paying). Software must be USB bootable.
 
For enterprise use, Blancco is fairly good. There is a server version which allows for pxe boot in place wiping, tracks hardware info too for audit. DBAN for everything else
 
If you've got the right tools I'd open it up and see whats inside so you can see how they work. Theres a strong magnet that moves the head which is fun to play with and the platters skip over tables with hardly any resistance. The platters are usually glass so you can just break them when you're done scratching them up.

Ya, one time I had a strong mag. one used to check pacemakers over the phone & tried it on a drive, did nothing, I thought their was a 0write util???
