Hey guys,

Tried to install windows onto my ssd and the thing said my key was only valid as an upgrade, kinda annoying as it should be a full edition and that's how I installed it before (computer built from scratch, no previous OS).

So i figured I would copy the drive image from my hdd using Drive XML.

The problem: Despite getting my HDD down to a size of 31gb and the image being only 31gb in size it won't let me put it onto my 64gb ssd?

Any ideas or other solutions?

Try using a better tool. I recommend Macrium Reflect. There is also a free version.

Alternatively you can try the double-install method. Install Windows once, do not enter the Product Key. Then reinstall Windows again, this time using the key. Should work. You could also try a registry trick - just search for Windows 7 Upgrade workaround or similar. Assuming it is Windows 7, of course. :)

cheers Sirius. Macrium won't put any rubbish on my pc would it?

You're right in thinking it's Windows 7. I just don't get why it seems to think it's now an upgrade version?

Can someone also tell me how and what values to align my C300 64gb to?

I've looked all over and i just don't get what's going on and what values to use?

Read somewhere to align it using a cmd window and diskpart

Thanks!
