ok all the things i need for my new pc will be here shortly. due to budget issues i will be using the 80gb hdd i have in my current computer (supported by my 500gb external drive) until i can afford a nice new 500gb internal drive. how do i go about wiping my 80gb drive so that i can put it in my new setup?

do i simply put everything together, wire it all up (including the 80gb drive) and then cold boot it with the vista disc in it?

when i boot the pc up for the first time the bios should come up immediately right??
or do i set the cd drive to master and the HDD to slave before switching it on? i've never built a new pc and my current one came already set up!
