HDMI 0r DVI-D same thing ??

Sorry for maybe a dumb question but are these the same thing any reason to go for one over the other ??

HDMI has Audio, other than that single link DVI and HDMI are the same.
Dual Link DVI supports resolutions beyond 1920x1200 (HDMI/Single DVI do not). Dual Link is also used for Full HD 3D.

Also, remember HDCP (HD content protection), if you have an old monitor it may not support it so no picture over HDMI when watching things like DVD's and blu rays I think.

No. Otherwise he would have had to say 'if the monitor has DVI Dual Link' which not all do.
