HDMI 2.0 Question

I have a laptop with HDMI 2.0 and Thunderbolt3/USB 3.1 Type C.

If I use a HDMI -> DP cable will that support QHD or UW-QHD at 60hz?

I'll have a desktop GPU shortly that will hook up to my laptop to get DP->DP from the GPU, but just looking for a stop-gap.

You cant have hdmi to displayport, get usb-c to dp.

I'm pretty sure you can as I have the cables it's just whether it works or not ha as I don't have the laptop to test yet.

Unless t only works DP to hdmi?

DP to HDMI, but only out of dual mode DP ports that have DP+ sign on them, they can output a normal hdmi, analogue or dvi signal without needing an active adapter.
