HDMI audio is a bit dodgy??

Hey guys, earlier my HDMI audio was working prefectly and when I decided to play something realised the sound has gone off went to sounds but still can't hear it.

wat can I do about it?

Tried rebooting your PC since it stopped working, have you got the latest HDMI drivers - tried replugging the HDmi cable in etc?

Thx yeh I rebooted PC more than a few times: nothing, umm I didn't know there are HDMI driver do I need to get the right one? I'll try replugging them aswell.

Oh I remember after I booted it once the windows sound should come up and I here som crackling sort of noise for one second thru the tv speakers?

Sounds like the cable is damaged/ got a stiff bend in it.

Try rebooting whatever device the hdmi cable is going in to.

I get this on my media box from time to time. Go to your sound setup in control pannel, you'll probably find the default playback device has reverted back to your audio card, rather than the hdmi out

Thx yeh I set it default and the sound is there it didn't sound to clear. I blowed a bit of air into the hdmi going thru the GFX and its working perfectly.
so hope it doesn't stop working again

Just pulled the HDMI out from TV, put it back in and working again. just hope it stays like that..

Might be worth buying a new cable for a couple of quid and seeing if helps.

I've got spare hdmi cable sound still comes on and off. gettin bit frustrated. my mobo has an hd audio/ac97 so could I connect it to my speakers instead?

If all you're doing is stereo then it'll probably be fine that way. Can you try another device to try and work out whether it's the TV's HDMI port or the computers which is at fault?

Which graphics card is this?

My Ati HD5xxx started having problems with HDMI audio when I installed the 11.9 drivers

I updated my HDMI Ati Audio driver from the realtek website and it fixed the issue

Hey dude this the HD6870 and just opened CCC and its on the latest 11.9 drivers aswell.

Still have problems have to set it default everytime and restart 4 it to work.

I've used my old speakers and there don't seem to be any audio issues now. so Im sticking to that.

Can any1 recommend any quality speakers?

Worth trying the new 11.10 catalyst and then the realtek driver if that's no use
