My audio from the HDMI some times work and now its not working even when I go to volume nothings come out from the TV?

help plz?

A bad connection at one of the ends of the lead perhaps? Windows not switching audio devices properly perhaps?

Is it the only audio device, and if not is it doing it in any sort of pattern?

Different programmes have their own settings for audio devices (handy, as I route normal PC sound through my speakers, but voice comms are set to a usb headset), and some programmes may disable the audio device if it's not there when the programme is started (IE your TV is off when you start a programme).

Remember there can be several different places for the sound to be set from depending on the version of windows, your installed sound device software, and the programme itself (very annoying with microphone settings at times).

hmm well besides that I have the HD audio on-board which has been enabled thru bios. I tried to connect my headphones through it which colours do they go in green/blue/red of the headphone jacks?

I also tried the HDMI sound thru hdmi on mobo and on my 6870 and same thing happens. oh and the hdmi cable has been previously used on an Xbox 360 and there were never any problems with pic and sound whatsoever. mite I add its a cheap one that cost a few quid from an auction site.

much appreciated

Ok I've even used my spare HDMI and still no sound although I heard like 1 second of a rackle when the windows music shud be on. so its not my HDMI. sum guy on here said I myt need HDMI drivers? when I choose sound in taskbar it shows up as AMD HDMI Audio. hrlp needed plz. this is happening on both my mobo's HDMI and 6870 GFX. but the picture on both is perfect no problem there.

bad quality HDMI, you need to buy a gold plated one for about £50.

:D No seriously a cheap one works just the same.

An update I changed it to default audio it worked but sounded it abit out. pulled it out and in still the same. I then blowed a bit of air into the hdmi cable going in to the 6870. Turned PC on and works perfectly. hopefully it doesn't go off again :) lol at Tommyz £50?!?!
