i have just built a HTPC and everything is running pretty well...... apart from a slight issue with getting the audio to come through the hdmi cable.

I dont have a dongle (dvi-hdmi) but i did pick up a dvi-hdmi cable which is supposed to do the job..

Can anyone shed any light on this :)

don't think the graphics cards yet support audio through the hdmi connection....

which graphics card do you have?

If you have a recent Radeon card they will support audio over HDMI but you need a special ATI dongle to achieve it as the regular ones won't pass audio through.

i have a hd2900 with built in 5.1 audio and a hd3450 with built in 5.1

any ideas where i can pick up a dongle ? are they available separately ?

cheers for the info guys

Ask in the wanted forum. Quite a few people have them and dont use them. They normally sell for about a tenner.

its cool... i found an online store selling them :)

cheers though :)

Cool. As for setting it up, I've yet to try it with my 3650 but apparently you have to installed the Realtek driver for the output device on the graphics card and then set that as your default output device.

The graphics card doesn't incorporate sound as such, it's just capable of acting as an alternative output device and needs to be configured as such so your regular sound hardware goes through it.
