Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a good cable for my new 4k tv

model is Panasonic TX-50CX680B, Am I right in saying it needs to be this spec v2.0/1.4a HDMI Cable?

Cheers

Derek

You definitely don't need a special cable. Choose hdmi cable based on the functions you need. You don't need hdmi 2 unless you need 4k at more than 30fps... I really really wouldn't be spending £20 on some wire.

Similar tv to me. Don't buy the expensive amazon ones with platinum and 4k/60 certified written all over them. They flickered on actual BT UHD. The only cables I got to work in 4k/60 were ones that cost me 99p and were not even plated. The BT 4k one provided is PHAT thick though and works great

Thanks guys, Im only connecting it to a sky hd box at the moment but will be getting a blu ray player with 4k upscaling

your tv will upscale your br's,

This is what I never understood about 4k upscaling for AV receivers and BR players. What 4k display doesn't have it's own upscaling, therefore when will you ever even use the scaling in the AVR or BD players?

I believe (could be wrong) that when it comes to HDMI the cables remain unchanged it is the interface electronics which have changed at 2.0.

Thanks all once again Ive went and bought a cheap £6.75 cable from the rainforest, I will worry about a better cable next year when samsung bring out the new UHD Blu-ray players

the most i will ever spend on a HDMI cable is <£5.

hdmi king, kabeldirekt, etc is what i look for on amazon best sellers section.

A £1 cable is the same as a £10,000 cable. If it displays a picture then both will be the exact same.

The problem with £1 cables is that they tend to break easier due to poor build quality. So rather than replacing £1 cables often I tend to spend £3-£4 knowing they will last forever that is what the extra £2 is that I pay for.

Paying £20 for a cable your literally throwing £15 at some stupid marketing gimmick

I'd heard this too, never noticed a difference between a £20 one which cam with my TV and a standard poundshop special.
