Hi, I have several Google TV Streamers around the house connected to LG and Samsung TVs. The HDMI CEC Volume Control works fine on the Google TV Streamers connected to the Samsung TVs but not on the LGs. It only works via IR on the LGs. Are there any advantages in CEC Volume over IR?

I can't stand CEC features. Manual IR control, with macros work better. If I switch off a source I don't want it switch TV off, switch input, I'll do that manually with a macro

But LG do offer CEC control, it's called "simplilink" or something like that

What's a macro?

Multiple commands send from a IR remote when one button is pressed for example

"Watch BD player" activity will send

TV Power on
BD power on
AVR power on
Delay 8 seconds
TV input HDMI 1
AVR input BD
Then load a page on your remote where you have all the functions when viewing a movie, and volume controls AVR, has AVR DSP modes, with BD player transport controls

Ah okay, thanks, like macros on a keyboard.

LG tellies definitely support CEC. I use it all of the time.

What model do you have?

Ideally want to go enable or disable specific features of device Comms IE for myself I'd disable the auto on/off , maybe just do auto input switching and volume control.

I can why it might be annoying for example if I watch bd finish for the BD so switch bd off I wouldn't want it to switch TV off as I might want to use another device

But there are times which I switch on BD but start a movie but not ready to switch input from Xbox to be player yet, so if it switches inputs that would be a pain as well. Plus if it switches Xbox off when it auto switched from one input to another that would be annoying
