HDMI Control issue

I’ve got a problem with my AV setup which was working fine, i.e. the sound was coming out of my speakers and the TV remote switched on the TV and amplifier and controlled the volume.

My setup is,

Virgin V6 box >> Denon AVR-X2500H >> Panasonic Viera GT50

On Thursday, my wife went to use the TV, but there was no picture. Went through the basics of checking the source etc., but nothing. Tried rebooting everything and also connected my laptop up with HDMI directly to the TV, but couldn’t get a picture.

Next day I tried connecting the Virgin box directly to the TV and it worked and the amplifier now had a message about a failed update. After a lot of messing about, I finally got the amplifier to factory reset and update, but now I can’t get the sound out of the speakers or the TV remote to control the amplifier.

I’ve turned on all of the HDMI control settings on the amplifier and Viera link on the tv, but the ARC section under Viera tools is saying that it’s not available, i.e. it can’t see the amplifier. If I plug my laptop into the tv I can now get a picture as well.

I’m a bit confused what the problem was originally as it affected the tv and amplifier, power surge maybe. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated.
