hdmi doesn't work with the new build?

Hey guys! I've just bought and assembled a PC from a thread I found a day ago. I connected it to my monitor (which works with my old computer) through a hdmi cable and it shows 'no signal detected'. I know nothing about hardware but I believe I connected everything correctly. When I push the power button, lights flash and fans rotate. There's no OS installed yet, I was planning to install PopOS (as I use it on my old PC). Could it be that I need to use a different cable (Display port) and will be able to connect through hdmi after OS installation?

That monitor doesn't have any Displayport ports according to the spec, just HDMI and older DVI/D-Sub. But with any of these cables, you should see the BIOS on the screen, something is not working.
