Hi,
I know there have been a few similar threads regarding the 360 and HDMI, but mine is a bit more specific. In our lounge we have various pieces of Hi-Fi equipment all connected to a receiver (with multiple inputs on the rear). The TV is connected to this receiver via an HDMI cable purely for future proofing, as before purchasing my 360 we didn't have any HD video to watch. All the various video hardware (i.e. DVD player, freeview box and now 360) all go into the receiver, and the source is selected and that video signal is output to the TV.
We have a 5.1 surround sound system setup, also connected to the receiver. Now my question. I had originally thought that an HDMI cable carries not only the video signal, but the sound as well. Is this is true? If so I can simply connect my 360 to the receiver via an HDMI cable and enjoy HD gaming on the TV along with surround sound goodness.
Anyone who could clear up my confusion would be great!
Thanks,
Simon
