Hi guys,

I'm putting together a new media centre pc and I wanted to know what people would recommend for a graphics card that had an HDMI output.

My vga input on my tv is taken up with an xbox 360 so I would like the pc to conect to the tv via hdmi so I don't have to swap cables.

Do people just use dvi->hdmi adaptors? Any cards run HDCP over dvi/hdmi?

Cheers

You have a few options

X1600 PRO HDMI 256MB

MSI NX7300GS-MD256EH HDMI

GF 7600GS 256MB GDDR2 PCI-E DVI-I TVO HDMI SILENT PIPE

personally id go for the 7600 its the most expensive but will be the best performing (game wise) if you so chose to use your media pc for that aswell, if your not bothered about gaming go for the 7300GS its around £50, nice little card for the money at that price specially with the HDMI.

Vision wise, an adapter works fine and gives a wider choice, just make sure its HDCP. Forgot to mention the only advantage to HDMI cards is the SPDIF passthrough. Depends on your application and preference, but I never use a TV's sound. Personally I always route the sound source, especially my Mystique DD encoder card through a decent DD/DTS 7.1 channel amp.

Personally I am getting an Asus 7600GT that has HDMI EN7600GT/HTDI/256M. It also has an SPDIF in on board and I plan to pass the sound through from an Xplosion Soundboard so I can get all the sound and vision on one cable.

I plan to fit into an mcubed passive chassis so the fan cooler is not a problem for me, as will be replaced.

My XBOX360 is already using the VGA and sound in on my TV.
