Just got my new graphics card - a Sapphire HD2400 Pro

I thought that it would come with a dongle so I could plug a HDMI cable into it which would have both audio and video

But instead it just has the standard DVI/VGI and SVideo outputs?

The card desc from their site as below

Was I wrong to think this was capable of what I thought? And outputting video and audio of HDMI?

And if not, how do i do it?

spend a lot of time looking for a ATI DVI to HDMI adapter and spending £7-10 or ask anyone with a 2900 or 3859 or 3870 for one?

We had a tread on this a couple of weeks back - and I promised I'd do a warning/how to thread, but have been a bit busy/lazy lately!

There is a massive problem with the 2400/2600's and their claim of audio/video over HDMI (several actually :()

You need the ATI dongle as it has different internal wiring to the standard dvi-hdmi converter, and ATI won't sell it to you if it didn't come with your card  (2nd hand it is) - seems really hit and miss as to which cards they come with - but considering ATi's policy it seems misleading to claim the feature but not provide the hardware?

Driver support is pretty poor. The Ati drivers don't support the HD Audio - genius - The Vista (MS) built in driver does, but only 2 channel - brilliant - you need to track down the Realtek Ati HD Audio driver for your OS (Vista?) and install them to get 5.1ch

There is some confusion over which cards actually support the audio feature. When I bought the Sapphire 2400 pro the OcUK page didn't state it did sound, and the rumour was that only the XT cards support the feature. The Sapphire site claims sound, as do other users so hopefully you'll have luck.

I have a Gigabyte 2400 xt and the Sapphire 2400 pro AND the Ati dongle (Thanks OcUK Tech support - you guys are stars!) and still I can't get sound  I get a selection of error messages that I'm busy working through, but safe to say that it's taken nearly 2 months and I still don't have sound

Bottom line - I think it would be simpler simply to use a proper soundcard/onboard sound and an audio cable - no messing around - works out of the box!
