i have a dell 3007 and i am looking to run a PS3 on it. but from what i read a ps3 won't drive the monitor. is it possible to input hdmi to my computer and use it to upscale it so that that it can be displayed on the 3007

You should be able to use your PS3 on it without any problems. You just won't be able to run it at the screen's native res as the PS3's maximum res output is 1920x1080. Your screen would just scale 1920x1080 to fit the screen.
 
it wont work on the dell 3007 as it only accepts 2 resolutions 1280*800 and 2560*1600 both of which the playstation cannot output
