Hi

I have bought a new Viewsoin VX2753 LED monitor which is connected via HDMI and the text on the screen looks ver grainy and pixelated,

I have the Latest drivers for my ATI 5850 installed (11.8) also the moitor drivers and I have running it at 1920x1080 @ 60HZ.

I had this problem with my last montir when it was runnig on HDMI and it worked fine on DVI.

This monitor only has 2 HDMI and 1 VGA so cannot use DVI

I have tried searching and it seems like this is a common problem with HDMI does anyone know a fix ofr this or is there a oriblem with the 5850?

Well, considering HDMI and DVI use the exact same signal, I'd say it had nothing to do with HDMI itself, but perhaps a poor implementation by either the monitor.

However seeing as it's affected more than one monitor, I'd take a stab and say it's your 5850.

I dont have an LED tv, but I have a 1080p 42" LCD I use for my monitor,
That has the same thing on a DVI to HDMI converter, anything above 1366x768 goes really grainy,
I just put it down to my tv not supporting the resolution lol

also if your tv has a VGA input you can get DVI to VGA cables cheap as chips off the bay but you might still get the high res issue...

Go to the Catalyst Control Centre--->My Digital Flat-Panels--->Scaling Options (Digital Flat-panel) and make sure the scaling is set to 'Overscan 0%'.

Just out of interest, would you happen to know if there is a similar option for Nvidias control panel? :D

Back when they released the ForceWare 257.15 beta driver they introduced something that allowed you to adjust 'scaling'. It was under Display --> Adjust desktop size and position. I am afraid I haven't used any of their recent ForceWare drivers so I can't say if this feature still exists or it is accessed in the same way.

If you are having trouble with an image over HDMI on Nvidia it is usually down to the GPU treating your monitor as an HDTV which process colour slightly differently. You can go to 'Adjust Desktop Colour Settings' and change content type from Auto-select to 'Desktop Programs' - this should fix any HDMI-specific colour issues.

Edit: Could somebody with the latest ForceWare drivers confirm that the two processes described above (adjusting 'scaling' and 'colour settings') still exist in this form in the ForceWare drivers and if so how they are accessed? Many thanks.

I have managed to resolve the issue after an hour of messing with settings and messing with different cables.

On the input setting on the monitor it was set to HDMI AV, I changed this setting to HDMI PC and set the scaling options in the CCC to eliminate any black border round the screen and all is good.

Also does anyone where I can buy a adapter power supply for this monitor VX2753?
