HDMI on Ubuntu 11.04

Okay i thought id give ubuntu a go on my DELL MINI 1010 netbook.

After installing it took a while to get used to.

I had problems with mkv and avi files not playing properly but i THINK i have sorted that now.

The problem im having at the moment is i can not output to my TV via HDMI. Does anyone have any idea what i can do?

Hi mate, i was having but i sorted those out so i now have the right resolution and that all files play okay (except some large mkv files but im not fussed about that)

When i plug the netbook into HDMI to the TV it doesnt display on the TV.

Tried rebooting with the HDMI plugged in?

Opened display properties (gnome-display-properties) to see if its picked up the second display? Try using xrandr ...

Have a look at /etc/X11/xorg.conf under display settings

Is that just a case of looking under the menu bar at the top?

You'll need to use terminal. It's an app.

All the display related settings are in that file. It'll take awhile so you might need to google on a similar setup in order to get the correct settings

okay got this on xrandr

Honestly cant see what the prob is, ive never used Ubuntu before but surely there must be a simple thing im missing here :Z

Ive now ended up installing Joli OS 1.2 and it works with HDMI straight out no faffing....

Re-installed ubuntu because i want to be able to use GIMP and the photo sorting program.

Still not got this HDMI sorted :\
