HDMI or D-sub: Image quality?

Generally speaking, should either of these input methods be significantly better than the other for a 24" LCD monitor?

My PLE2403WS has these two inputs. Until last week, I always chose HDMI to connect my 8800GTS 512MB. However, perhaps due to new drivers (?), I no longer get a picture via HDMI after the POST screen!

Consequently, I'm using the D-sub cable with the adapter connected into the 8800GTS via the same output, which works fine... So its either the cable, the monitor HDMI input, or some wierd quirk with the 177.41 modded driver I'm using.

So in conclusion, besides for curiosity's sake, should I try and get HDMI working again? :D

HDMI will be better than VGA (D-SUB) as it's digital as opposed to analogue.

I can be pretty confident when saying running modded drivers brings these kind of issues, if you want hdmi to work again stick with stock (HDMI is finnicky as there's the content protection layer built in to it).
