HDMI or displayport on new monitor?

I have a 980gtx G1 card and i have just ordered a https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-082-DE

Can i use HDMI for the 1440p native or do i need to get a display port cable? Is the DP the preferable connection or will the HDMI handle it fine?

That screen can support 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz over HDMI, quite a few people have managed it. it can be a little hit and miss though depending on the graphics card i believe. if you've got an HDMI cable, try it when you get the screen. it's possible you will have to create a custom res/refresh in Windows though to set it up. DisplayPort would be simpler and just detect it straight away. that screen comes with a DP > Mini DP cable so if youve got DP output from your graphics card, just use that cable to hook up to the monitor

oh right cool.... i have 2x normal sixe DP on the gfx card and i see the monitor comes with a full size and a mini DP so that will be best option. Thanks.
